Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about electrical connections, connection files and costs. Can't find the answer? Give us a call.

How much does an electrical connection cost?

As a guide, a single-phase connection starts from around 1,800 lei and a three-phase one from around 2,900 lei (labour + standard materials, excluding the operator's fees). The final price depends on the connection type (overhead/underground), the power, the distance to the grid and the connection tariff set out in the Technical Connection Approval (ATR). How long does an electrical connection take, from paperwork to power at the socket?

It varies: obtaining the Technical Connection Approval (ATR) from the operator usually takes a few weeks, while the actual works can be done in a few days once approvals are in place. Overall, from submitting the file to energisation, the process typically takes between 4 and 12 weeks, depending on the operator and complexity.

What documents do I need for an electrical connection?

Typically: your ID, the property deed (land registry extract), the urban planning certificate (for constructions), the site and zoning plans, plus the connection request. Buildings may also require the building permit. We prepare and submit the entire file for you.

What is the difference between single-phase and three-phase?

A single-phase connection (230V) is enough for homes with typical consumption (up to roughly 11 kW approved). A three-phase connection (400V) is needed for high consumption or powerful equipment (heat pumps, machine tools, workshops, fast EV charging). We can advise which one suits you.

Who is the distribution operator in Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu?

The distribution operator in the Bucharest–Ilfov–Giurgiu area (Muntenia) is Rețele Electrice România (Distributie Energie Electrica Romania), formerly E-Distribuție Muntenia / Enel. We prepare the file and manage the entire relationship with the operator, from the connection request to energisation.

What is the Technical Connection Approval (ATR)?

The ATR is the document issued by the grid operator (Rețele Electrice România) that sets out the technical conditions and the connection tariff for hooking up to the grid. It is the mandatory step before the connection works. We prepare and submit the file to obtain the ATR on your behalf.

What is the DIU (Utilisation Installation Dossier) and where do you handle it?

The DIU is the documentation of the indoor electrical installation, prepared by an ANRE-certified electrician, required before the meter can be fitted and the connection energised. We prepare DIU files nationwide, not only in Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu.

Are you an ANRE-certified company?

Yes. SUN WATT SRL is ANRE-certified for both the execution and the design of electrical installations and connections. We work legally, with complete and compliant documentation, from the file through to energisation.

Can I upgrade from single-phase to three-phase?

Yes. Upgrading from single-phase to three-phase (or increasing the power) requires a power increase request to the operator, a new ATR and the modification works. We handle the entire process for you, including the file.
