Electrical Connection in Romania from Abroad - Fully Remote, No Travel Needed
Yes - if you are a Romanian citizen living abroad, you can have an electrical connection installed on your land or house in Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu without travelling back. You give us a notarised power of attorney (obtained at the Romanian consulate in your city or as an apostilled document), send your documents online, and we handle the entire grid-connection dossier, the ATR from Retele Electrice Romania S.A., the physical works and the DIU file on your behalf. You follow everything by photo and video on WhatsApp and pay by bank transfer.

Living in Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom or anywhere else in the diaspora should not stop you from connecting your Romanian property to the grid. Many Romanian owners abroad inherit a plot of land or build a house in Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu, only to discover that the electrical connection ("bransament electric") seems to require weeks of trips to operator offices, town halls and notaries back home. It does not have to. SUN WATT SRL, the team behind bransam.ro, is an ANRE-certified company that carries out this entire process for you, remotely, from start to finish.
We act on your behalf through a simple notarised power of attorney, which you can obtain right where you live - at the Romanian consulate or embassy in your city, or as an apostilled document drawn up by a local notary. From that point on, we prepare and submit the grid-connection dossier, obtain the ATR (technical connection approval) from the distribution operator Retele Electrice Romania S.A., execute the physical connection through our certified electricians, and complete the DIU (Utilisation Installation file). You never need to set foot in Romania.
Throughout the project you receive photos and short videos on WhatsApp at each milestone, so you can see exactly what is happening on your land even from thousands of kilometres away. Payment is by bank transfer from your account abroad. This page explains how the remote process works step by step, what it costs, and answers the questions diaspora owners ask us most often. To talk it through directly, call or WhatsApp us on 0733 097 440.
How it works — step by step, remotely
- 1
1. Send us the property details and get a clear quote
Contact us by WhatsApp or email with a few basics: the address or cadastral number of the land or house, whether you need a single-phase or three-phase connection, and a photo of the plot if you have one. We tell you which documents are needed, give you an indicative price (single-phase from 1,800 lei, three-phase from 2,900 lei, plus the operator's own fee), and explain the timeline - all before you commit to anything.
- 2
2. Sign a notarised power of attorney where you live
So we can represent you in front of Retele Electrice Romania S.A. and the authorities, you give us a power of attorney ("procura" / "imputernicire"). As a Romanian abroad you have two easy options: sign it at the Romanian consulate or embassy in your city (in Spain, Italy, the UK and most countries), or have a local notary draft it and add an apostille. We tell you exactly what wording to request, so the document is accepted first time.
- 3
3. Send all documents online
You scan or photograph and send us, by email or WhatsApp, your ID, the title deed and the extract from the land register ("extras de carte funciara"), and the urban planning certificate ("certificat de urbanism") if one already exists. If a planning certificate is missing, we can obtain it on your behalf using the power of attorney. Nothing has to be posted or handed over in person.
- 4
4. We prepare the dossier and obtain the ATR
Our ANRE-certified engineers draw up the connection project and submit the complete grid-connection dossier to Retele Electrice Romania S.A. We follow the file through the operator's system, answer any queries on your behalf and obtain the ATR (technical connection approval) and the connection contract. You simply receive the good news and the documents by WhatsApp.
- 5
5. We execute the connection and the DIU on site
Once approvals are in place, our certified crews carry out the physical connection - meter box, cabling, earthing and the link to the network - and we prepare the DIU (Utilisation Installation file) that certifies your indoor installation is safe and ready for energisation. We send you photos and a short video of the finished work and the installed meter.
- 6
6. You follow everything on WhatsApp and pay by bank transfer
At every stage you get updates, photos and videos on WhatsApp, so the project is fully transparent even though you are abroad. You pay our labour and materials by bank transfer from your account in Spain, Italy, the UK or elsewhere, and the operator fee separately to Retele Electrice Romania S.A. When it is done, your property has live power - and you never travelled back.

Frequently asked questions — from abroad
I live abroad - do I really not need to travel to Romania?
Correct. With a notarised power of attorney we represent you in front of Retele Electrice Romania S.A., the town hall and any other authority. We prepare the dossier, obtain the ATR, execute the connection and complete the DIU, and you follow it all on WhatsApp. From the diaspora in Spain, Italy, the UK or anywhere else, you can complete the whole project without setting foot in Romania.
How do I get the power of attorney from abroad?
You have two simple options. The easiest is to sign the power of attorney ("procura" / "imputernicire") at the Romanian consulate or embassy in your city - they are set up for exactly this. Alternatively, a local notary where you live can draft it and add an apostille so it is valid in Romania. We send you the exact wording to request so the document is accepted without delays. We do not provide consulate addresses ourselves - you book the appointment with your nearest Romanian mission.
Which documents do I need to send, and how?
Typically your ID, the title deed and the extract from the land register ("extras de carte funciara"), and the urban planning certificate ("certificat de urbanism") if it already exists. You simply scan or photograph them and send them by email or WhatsApp - nothing needs to be posted. If a planning certificate is missing, we can obtain it for you using the power of attorney.
How do I pay if I am abroad?
You pay our labour and materials by bank transfer from your account in Spain, Italy, the UK or elsewhere - no cash and no in-person handover. The distribution operator's own fee is paid separately to Retele Electrice Romania S.A. We give you clear indicative prices up front: single-phase connections from 1,800 lei, three-phase from 2,900 lei, the DIU file 1,200 lei, the connection dossier and project from 900 lei, and ATR assistance from 350 lei (operator fee not included).
How long does the whole process take?
The hands-on work we control - preparing and submitting the dossier and carrying out the physical connection - is quick. The main variable is the operator's own approval timeline at Retele Electrice Romania S.A., which depends on the type of connection and the current queue. We give you a realistic estimate once we have seen your documents, and we keep the file moving and chase the operator on your behalf so there are no avoidable delays.
How will you keep me updated while I am abroad?
We communicate mainly by WhatsApp on 0733 097 440, in Romanian or English. You receive photos and short videos at each milestone - documents submitted, ATR obtained, works in progress, the installed meter - so the project stays fully transparent even from another country. You can message us with questions at any point and we reply with the current status.
