Electrical Connection in Romania from Germany – 100% Remote, No Trip Home Needed
Yes - if you live in Germany and own land or a house in Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu, you can have your electrical connection (branșament electric) completed without flying back to Romania. SUN WATT SRL (bransam.ro), an ANRE-certified company for both design and execution, works from a notarised power of attorney - signed at the consular section of the Romanian Embassy in Berlin, at a Romanian consulate in Germany such as Munich, Stuttgart or Bonn, or at a German notary with an apostille. You send your documents online, we prepare the grid-connection dossier, obtain the ATR from Rețele Electrice România S.A. (formerly E-Distribuție / Enel), execute the works and complete the DIU file, while you follow everything on WhatsApp and pay by bank transfer from your German account.

Germany is home to roughly one million Romanians - one of the largest Romanian communities anywhere in Europe. From Berlin and Hamburg to Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Cologne and Dortmund, many of them own a plot of land or a house back home: inherited from parents, bought as an investment, or a build that is slowly taking shape in Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu. Sooner or later, that property needs electricity - and the standard process seems designed for someone who is physically in Romania, with queues at the operator's offices, papers to sign and a file to chase. Taking unpaid leave and booking flights for every signature is simply not realistic when your job and family are in Germany.
This is precisely the problem we solve. SUN WATT SRL, the team behind bransam.ro, is an ANRE-certified company that designs and executes electrical connections in Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu, and prepares DIU (Utilisation Installation) files anywhere in the country. Our process is built for owners abroad: you sign a notarised power of attorney where you live - at the consular section of the Romanian Embassy in Berlin, at one of the Romanian consulates in Germany (for example Munich, Stuttgart or Bonn), or at a local German notary with an apostille added - and send your documents by email or WhatsApp. From that moment, we represent you before the distribution operator, Rețele Electrice România S.A. (formerly E-Distribuție / Enel), and handle the whole project, from the dossier to the meter on the wall.
You stay in control without ever leaving Germany. Romania is just one hour ahead, so coordinating calls and messages around your working day is easy, and we communicate in plain language - in Romanian or English, which also makes life simpler if a German partner or spouse is involved in the property. At every milestone you receive photos and short videos on WhatsApp, and you pay by ordinary bank transfer from your German account. Call or message us on 0733 097 440 and we will tell you exactly what your property needs to get connected.
How it works — step by step, remotely
- 1
1. Free consultation and a clear quote on WhatsApp
Contact us on 0733 097 440 by phone or WhatsApp and tell us where the property is - Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu - and what you need: a new single-phase or three-phase connection, a DIU file, or help with the connection dossier. We ask for a few photos of the plot or building, explain each step in plain language and send you a written estimate. Indicative prices start from 1,800 lei for single-phase and 2,900 lei for three-phase (labour and materials, excluding the operator's own fee), so you know where you stand before committing to anything.
- 2
2. You sign a power of attorney in Germany
So we can act in your name before the grid operator and the authorities, you give us a notarised power of attorney (procură / împuternicire). In Germany you have three convenient routes: the consular section of the Romanian Embassy in Berlin, one of the Romanian consulates - for example in Munich, Stuttgart or Bonn - or a local German notary (Notar), in which case the document receives an apostille so it is valid in Romania. We send you a model text with exactly what the mandate must cover, so the appointment is quick and you only do it once.
- 3
3. You send your documents online
You scan or photograph your ID, the title deed or land registry extract (extras de carte funciară) and the urban planning certificate (certificat de urbanism) where one exists, and send them to us by WhatsApp or email. Nothing has to be posted from Germany and nothing handed over in person. If a document is missing or out of date, we tell you precisely how to obtain it remotely - or we obtain it ourselves in Romania using the power of attorney.
- 4
4. We prepare the dossier and obtain the ATR
Our ANRE-certified engineers draw up the connection project and submit the complete grid-connection dossier (dossier and design from 900 lei, ATR assistance from 350 lei) to Rețele Electrice România S.A. (formerly E-Distribuție / Enel). We follow the file through the operator's system, respond to any queries on your behalf and obtain the ATR - the technical approval that sets your installation's approved power - without you having to chase anyone from abroad.
- 5
5. We execute the connection and the DIU on site
Once the approvals are in place, our certified crews carry out the physical works on your property - meter box, cabling, earthing and the link to the network - and prepare the DIU (Utilisation Installation file, 1,200 lei) so the installation can be officially energised. Each stage is documented with photos and short videos sent straight to your phone, so you can watch your project progress in real time from Frankfurt, Munich or Berlin.
- 6
6. You pay by bank transfer and receive the final handover
You settle our labour and materials by a straightforward bank transfer from your account in Germany - no cash, no envelopes sent with someone travelling home. The operator's own fee is paid separately to Rețele Electrice România S.A. as the process requires. At the end you receive the complete documentation digitally, and your property in Romania has live power - achieved entirely from Germany, without a single trip back.

Frequently asked questions — from abroad
I live in Germany - do I really not need to travel to Romania?
Correct. Our process is built so you never have to set foot in Romania. You sign a notarised power of attorney in Germany, send your documents online, and we prepare the dossier, obtain the ATR from Rețele Electrice România S.A. (formerly E-Distribuție / Enel), execute the physical connection and complete the DIU on your behalf. You follow everything on WhatsApp and pay by bank transfer - the whole project, from first call to energised meter, happens while you stay in Germany.
Where in Germany can I sign the power of attorney?
You have three practical options. You can sign the power of attorney (procură / împuternicire) at the consular section of the Romanian Embassy in Berlin, or at one of the Romanian consulates in Germany - for example in Munich, Stuttgart or Bonn - whichever is closest to you. Alternatively, a local German notary (Notar) can draft it, with an apostille added so the document is valid in Romania. We send you a model text listing exactly what the mandate must cover, so the appointment is fast and you only need to do it once. Appointments with the consulate are booked by you through the official consular channels.
Which documents do I have to send, and how?
Typically your ID, the title deed or land registry extract (extras de carte funciară) and the urban planning certificate (certificat de urbanism) if one already exists, plus the power of attorney. You simply scan or photograph them and send them by WhatsApp or email - no originals need to be posted from Germany. If something is missing or expired, we either guide you on obtaining it remotely or obtain it for you in Romania under the power of attorney.
How do I pay from Germany?
By ordinary bank transfer from your account in Germany - no cash and no need to be present. We send you a clear written quote in advance and a proper invoice from SUN WATT SRL, so everything is documented. Indicative prices for labour and materials: single-phase connections from 1,800 lei, three-phase from 2,900 lei, the DIU file 1,200 lei, the connection dossier and design from 900 lei, and ATR assistance from 350 lei. The distribution operator's own fee is separate and is paid to Rețele Electrice România S.A. as the process requires.
How long does the whole process take?
The parts we control - preparing and submitting the dossier, executing the connection and completing the DIU - move quickly once your power of attorney and documents are ready. The main variable is the approval timeline at Rețele Electrice România S.A., which depends on the type of connection and the operator's current queue. We give you a realistic estimate for your specific case at the quote stage, keep the file moving, and update you at every milestone - we do not promise fixed dates we cannot control, but you will always know exactly where things stand.
How will we stay in touch across the time difference?
Easily - Romania is only one hour ahead of Germany, so scheduling calls and messages around your working day is straightforward. We communicate mainly on WhatsApp at 0733 097 440, in Romanian or English, and you receive photos and short videos at each key stage: documents submitted, ATR obtained, works in progress, meter installed. Whether you are in Cologne, Dortmund, Nuremberg or Hamburg, you can follow the entire project from your phone and message us with questions at any time.
My property is not in Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu - can you still help?
Our execution teams carry out electrical connections in Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu, where our crews and local know-how with the operator are concentrated. For DIU (Utilisation Installation) files, however, we assist clients anywhere in Romania - that part of the service is fully remote by nature. Tell us the exact location of your plot or house and we will confirm honestly what we can do and send you a tailored quote.
