Electrical Connection in Romania from Austria – 100% Remote, No Travel Needed
Yes – if you live in Austria and own property in Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu, you can have your electrical connection completed without flying back to Romania. SUN WATT SRL (bransam.ro), an ANRE-certified company, works from a notarised power of attorney that you sign at the consular section of the Romanian Embassy in Vienna or before an Austrian notary — thanks to the 1965 Romania–Austria bilateral legal-assistance treaty, no apostille is needed, only a certified Romanian translation. We prepare the grid-connection dossier, obtain the ATR from Rețele Electrice România S.A. (formerly E-Distribuție / Enel), execute the physical works and complete the DIU file, while you follow everything on WhatsApp and pay by bank transfer from Austria.

Austria is home to one of the strongest Romanian communities in Central Europe – in Vienna above all, but also in Linz, Graz, Salzburg and Innsbruck. Many of those Romanians own land or a house back home: an inherited plot in Giurgiu, a new build in Ilfov, an apartment project in Bucharest. And sooner or later that property needs electricity. The standard route – flying back, burning through holiday days, queueing at the distribution operator and the notary – is simply not realistic when you have a job and a family in Austria. That is the exact problem bransam.ro was built to solve.
SUN WATT SRL, the team behind bransam.ro, is certified by ANRE for both the design and the execution of electrical connections ("branșamente electrice"). The process runs entirely at a distance: you give us a notarised power of attorney (procură / împuternicire) – signed either at the consular section of the Romanian Embassy in Vienna or before an Austrian notary — a little-known advantage: under the 1965 Romania–Austria bilateral legal-assistance treaty, Austrian notarial documents are recognised in Romania without an apostille, needing only a certified Romanian translation – and you send your documents online. From there we prepare and submit the grid-connection dossier, obtain the ATR from the distribution operator Rețele Electrice România S.A. (formerly E-Distribuție / Enel), carry out the physical connection in Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu, and complete the DIU file – which we can prepare for properties anywhere in Romania.
Distance is barely a factor in practice: Romania is only one hour ahead of Austria, so a call after work in Vienna or Graz lands comfortably within our working day. You receive photos and short videos on WhatsApp at every milestone, we communicate in Romanian or English – useful if your partner or co-owner is Austrian – and you pay everything by bank transfer from your Austrian account. Call or message us on WhatsApp at 0733 097 440 and we will tell you exactly what we need to get started.
How it works — step by step, remotely
- 1
1. Free consultation and quote by phone or WhatsApp
Contact us at 0733 097 440 and tell us where the property is – Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu – and what you need: a new single-phase or three-phase connection, a DIU file, or help with the dossier and the ATR. We explain the steps in plain Romanian or English, ask for a few photos of the plot or building if you have them, and send you a clear written estimate: single-phase from 1,800 lei, three-phase from 2,900 lei (labour and materials, excluding the operator's own fee). With only one hour between Austria and Romania, an evening call from Vienna or Linz is never a problem.

2. Sign the power of attorney in Austria
So we can represent you before the authorities and the grid operator, you give us a notarised power of attorney (procură / împuternicire). As a Romanian citizen in Austria you have two routes: book an appointment at the consular section of the Romanian Embassy in Vienna, or – if Vienna is far from Graz, Salzburg or Innsbruck – have an Austrian notary draw up the document. Thanks to the 1965 Romania–Austria bilateral legal-assistance treaty, the notarial deed is recognised in Romania without an apostille — only a certified Romanian translation is required. We send you a model text covering exactly what the mandate must include, so you only do this once.
- 3
3. Send your documents online
You scan or photograph your ID, the title deed or land registry extract (extras de carte funciara) and the urban planning certificate (certificat de urbanism) if one exists, and send everything by WhatsApp or email. Nothing is posted and nothing is handed over in person. If a document is missing or expired, we tell you how to obtain it remotely – in many cases we can get it ourselves using the power of attorney, so you do not have to fly back for paperwork.
- 4
4. We prepare the dossier and obtain the ATR
Our ANRE-certified engineers draw up the connection design and submit the complete grid-connection dossier (dosar de racordare) to Rețele Electrice România S.A. (formerly E-Distribuție / Enel). We track the file through the operator's system, answer technical queries on your behalf and follow it until the ATR – the technical connection approval that sets your approved power – is issued. The connection dossier and design start from 900 lei, and standalone ATR assistance from 350 lei.
- 5
5. We execute the connection and complete the DIU
Once the approvals are in place, our certified crews carry out the physical works on your property in Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu – meter box, cabling, earthing and the link to the network – and we prepare the DIU (Dosarul Instalatiei de Utilizare, 1,200 lei) so the installation can be officially energised. At every stage you receive photos and short videos on WhatsApp, so you can follow the work in real time from Austria as if you were standing on site.
- 6
6. Pay by bank transfer and receive the finished file
You settle our labour and materials by bank transfer from your Austrian account – no cash, no in-person handover – and pay the operator's own fee separately to Rețele Electrice România S.A. When the project is complete we send you the full documentation digitally: approvals, the DIU and photos of the installed meter. Your property in Romania has live power, and you never had to leave Austria.

Frequently asked questions — from abroad
Can I really get an electrical connection in Romania without leaving Austria?
Yes. The process is designed to run fully remotely. You provide a notarised power of attorney and send your documents online; we then prepare the grid-connection dossier, obtain the ATR from Rețele Electrice România S.A. (formerly E-Distribuție / Enel), execute the connection and complete the DIU on your behalf. You follow everything on WhatsApp and pay by bank transfer, so there is no flight, no queueing and no time off work.
How do I get the power of attorney while living in Austria?
You have two straightforward options. The first is to sign the power of attorney (procură / împuternicire) at the consular section of the Romanian Embassy in Vienna – you book the appointment directly with the embassy. The second, often more convenient if you live in Linz, Graz, Salzburg or Innsbruck, is to have a local Austrian notary draft the document; unlike for most other countries, Austrian notarial documents are recognised in Romania without an apostille, under the bilateral legal-assistance treaty between the two states — only a certified Romanian translation is needed. Call us first on 0733 097 440 and we will send you the exact wording the mandate must contain.
Which documents do I need to send, and how?
Typically your ID, the title deed or land registry extract (extras de carte funciara) for the property, and the urban planning certificate (certificat de urbanism) if one already exists. You scan or photograph them and send them by WhatsApp or email – nothing needs to be posted. If the planning certificate is missing, we can obtain it on your behalf using the power of attorney, so the file moves forward without you gathering paperwork from Austria.
How much does it cost and how do I pay from Austria?
Indicative prices for labour and materials: single-phase connections from 1,800 lei, three-phase from 2,900 lei, the DIU file 1,200 lei, the connection dossier and design from 900 lei, and ATR assistance from 350 lei. The distribution operator's own fee is paid separately to Rețele Electrice România S.A. You pay everything by bank transfer from your Austrian account – no cash and no in-person visit – and we invoice you properly so you always know what you are paying for.
How long does the whole process take?
The parts we control – preparing and submitting the dossier, executing the works and completing the DIU – move quickly. The main variable is the approval timeline at Rețele Electrice România S.A., which depends on the type of connection and the current queue. Once we see your documents we give you a realistic estimate, then keep the file moving and chase the operator on your behalf so there are no avoidable delays.
How will I know what is happening on site while I am in Austria?
We keep in close contact by phone and WhatsApp on 0733 097 440, in Romanian or English. Romania is only one hour ahead of Austria, so calls after your workday in Vienna, Graz or Salzburg are easy to schedule. You receive photos and short videos at each key stage – documents submitted, ATR issued, works in progress, the installed meter – so the project stays fully transparent from start to finish.
My property is not in Bucharest, Ilfov or Giurgiu – can you still help?
Partially, yes. We execute physical electrical connections only in Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu, where our crews work daily. However, DIU (Utilisation Installation) files are a different matter: we prepare those for properties anywhere in Romania, entirely remotely, on the basis of the same power of attorney and online documents. Send us the address on WhatsApp and we will tell you honestly what we can take on.
