What power do I need?

For a home with usual consumption (lighting, fridge, washing machine, TV, air conditioning), a single-phase connection with approved power up to ~11 kW is normally enough. With an induction hob, heat pump, electric heating or an EV charger you exceed the single-phase threshold and we recommend three-phase.

You request a power level through the connection application (energy questionnaire), but the final approved power is set by the grid operator Rețele Electrice România S.A. through the Technical Connection Approval (ATR), based on the local network. That is why the wizard estimate is indicative — we help you request the right power for free.

If the approved power is undersized, the main breaker will trip when several large appliances run at once. You can later request a power increase (a service from 350 lei), but it is simpler and cheaper to size it correctly from the start — especially if you plan a heat pump or an electric car.

A single-phase connection starts from 1,800 lei and a three-phase one from 2,900 lei (labour + usual materials, excluding the operator’s fees). The connection tariff paid to the operator is set through the ATR. If there is a real chance you will need three-phase later (EV charger, extension), going three-phase from the start is usually more economical.
