Electrical Connections in Sector 1

SUN WATT SRL carries out single-phase and three-phase electrical connections (bransament) in Sector 1, Bucharest, as a company ANRE-certified for execution and design. We handle the entire process — the grid connection (racordare) dossier, obtaining the Technical Connection Approval (ATR) from Retele Electrice Romania, the execution of the connection, and the Utilisation Installation Dossier (DIU). As a guide, a single-phase connection starts from around 1,800 lei, and a three-phase one from around 2,900 lei, with the final price being set through the ATR.

Bucharest's Sector 1 is an area with a distinctive mix: well-established residential neighbourhoods such as Dorobanti, Aviatorilor, Primaverii and Baneasa, alongside areas undergoing rapid development towards the north — Sisesti, Baneasa, Aviatiei — where new houses, villas and small residential developments are constantly appearing. For these buildings, the electrical connection (bransament) is one of the first steps towards commissioning, and SUN WATT handles the entire process, from the dossier to the pole. We carry out single-phase connections (230V) for homes with ordinary consumption and three-phase connections (400V) where high power is required — heat pumps, extensive air conditioning, EV charging stations or workshops. In addition to new homes, we frequently work on power upgrades (spor de putere) or the switch from single-phase to three-phase in existing buildings, as well as temporary site connections for buildings under construction. As a company ANRE-certified for execution and design, we prepare the grid connection (racordare) dossier, obtain the Technical Connection Approval from Retele Electrice Romania, and complete the Utilisation Installation Dossier required for installing the meter. We cover the whole of Sector 1 and travel to your address for an assessment, with no need for you to deal with the paperwork.

All connection requests and the issuing of the ATR (technical connection approval) are handled through Rețele Electrice România S.A., the distribution operator that took over the former E-Distribuție Muntenia (Enel) in this territory. As a sector with a mixed network, the connection method varies from street to street: in dense, well-established areas where the low-voltage network is buried, the connection is frequently made underground, while toward the north, in the less compact areas, the overhead connection from an existing pole remains the common and more economical solution. For a new connection, the documents usually required are the urban planning certificate, the ownership deed or land registry extract, the site plan, and the connection request. As a guide, from the filing of the dossier to the actual energisation, between 4 and 12 weeks pass, depending on the operator and the complexity of the work.

Temporary site connection

A temporary site connection supplies your construction site with power throughout the building works, before the permanent connection is installed. It is obtained through a connection application and a Technical Connection Approval (ATR) from Retele Electrice Romania, and is carried out by an ANRE-certified company. Prices start from 2,200 lei (labour plus materials, excluding the operator's fees), with the whole process usually taking around 4-12 weeks.

Grid connection

Electricity grid connection is the process of linking a plot, house or new premises to the electricity distribution network so you can have your own meter and power at the socket. The process involves six stages: the connection request, the Technical Connection Approval (ATR), the connection contract, the ANRE-certified service line works, the Utilization Installation Dossier (DIU) and meter installation. In Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu the network operator is Retele Electrice Romania S.A. (Distributie Energie Electrica Romania). The service starts from 900 lei (labour, excluding operator fees) and typically takes 4 to 12 weeks.

Power increase

A power increase means raising the approved electrical power at your existing connection when your current installation can no longer cope with your consumption. It is carried out through an application to the operator Retele Electrice Romania (Distributie Energie Electrica Romania), followed by a new ATR (Technical Connection Approval), a contract and any required connection changes. In 2026, labour starts from 350 lei (excluding operator fees), with an indicative duration of 4 to 12 weeks.

Prosumer / solar connection

Connecting a photovoltaic system to the grid as a prosumer means submitting a connection application to Retele Electrice Romania (Distributie Energie Electrica Romania). SUN WATT, an ANRE-certified company, prepares the full dossier, obtains the ATR (Technical Connection Approval), and coordinates the installation of a bidirectional meter so you can feed your surplus energy back into the grid. Frequently asked questions — connections in Sector 1

Do you carry out electrical connections throughout the whole of Sector 1?

Yes. We cover the entire Sector 1 of Bucharest, from central neighbourhoods such as Dorobanti, Aviatorilor and Primaverii to the northern areas, Baneasa and Sisesti. We travel to the address for a free assessment, determine the right type of connection (single-phase or three-phase, overhead or underground), and handle the dossier, ATR and execution.

How long does an electrical connection for a new house in Sector 1 take?

As a guide, the entire process takes between 4 and 12 weeks. Obtaining the Technical Connection Approval (ATR) from Retele Electrice Romania usually takes a few weeks, while the actual execution of the connection can be done within a few days after the approvals. We prepare the dossier ourselves and manage the relationship with the operator, so that you do not waste time on paperwork.

Is the connection in Sector 1 done overhead or underground?

It depends on the existing network on the street. In areas with an underground network, common in the residential neighbourhoods of Sector 1, the connection is carried out underground and includes excavation and protective conduit. Where the network is overhead, on poles, the overhead connection is the usual solution. We determine the correct option after the on-site assessment and according to the conditions set in the ATR.
