"Activating" or "reactivating" an electricity supply contract is, most of the time, a simple formality with the supplier (Electrica Furnizare, PPC Energie, E.ON, Engie, Hidroelectrica and others): you fill in the request, present your documents, and receive a supply contract in your name, with no work on the connection itself. It works just like a change of contract holder, free of charge and handled directly with the supplier. We say this clearly from the start: SUN WATT SRL does not handle the administrative side of contract activation with the supplier, because it is not electrical work. We do, however, guide you on exactly which documents you need and how to proceed.
There are situations, though, where activation or reactivation is NOT possible with a request to the supplier alone: a missing Utilisation Installation Dossier (DIU), a connection that has been removed or disconnected for a long time, a non-compliant electrical installation, the need for a power increase, or a missing connection certificate. This is where we step in, as a company certified by ANRE for execution and design: we prepare the DIU, carry out the reconnection or connection works, obtain the necessary ATR, and get the property ready for energisation, so that activating the contract with the supplier actually becomes possible.
When you need it
You need contract activation when you move into a new home with an existing, functioning connection, when you take over a property from a family member, or when you simply want a contract in your own name for an active supply point, here the procedure is administrative and you handle it directly with the supplier. You need reactivation when the supply point has been suspended or disconnected (non-payment, a property left unoccupied for a while) and you want to restore supply. You fall into our technical territory when the connection no longer physically exists, the installation has no valid DIU, the approved power is no longer sufficient, or the operator asks for a connection certificate you don't have, in these cases, without the involvement of an ANRE-certified company, the supplier cannot issue the contract.
How it works — step by step
- We Check the State of the Connection. We assess, free of charge, whether the supply point is active and functioning (a purely administrative matter, to be resolved with the supplier) or whether the connection is disconnected, removed or lacks a valid DIU (a technical matter, where we step in).
- We Guide You to the Supplier (the Administrative Part). If the connection exists and works, we tell you exactly which documents the supplier requires for activation or reactivation, the request, your ID, proof of your right to the property, the meter index and the supply point code (POD). You submit this yourself, directly to the supplier, free of charge.
- Technical Works and Documentation (if Needed). If activation is not possible because the connection has been removed, the installation is not compliant, or the DIU is missing, we prepare the documentation and, where needed, carry out the works: the Utilisation Installation Dossier, a power increase application, or a connection / reconnection file, as an ANRE-certified company.
- Obtaining the ATR and/or Reconnection. If a new Technical Connection Approval (ATR) or re-energisation of the connection is needed, we manage the relationship with Retele Electrice Romania through to completion.
- The Supply Contract, the Final Step. Once the connection is functioning, with a valid DIU and, where applicable, a connection certificate, you can submit the activation request to the supplier of your choice. This is the final step, which you complete directly with the supplier.
Required documents
- Identity document of the account holder
- Proof of your right to the property, a sale contract, a land registry extract, a certificate of inheritance, or a rental agreement
- The meter index at the date of handover (a photo of the serial number and index)
- The supply point code (POD), from an old invoice, if available
- The Technical Connection Approval (ATR) and/or the Utilisation Installation Dossier (DIU), when the technical situation requires them
Why bransam.ro
- Honest advice: we tell you clearly when activation is a simple formality with the supplier, and we don't carry out unnecessary work
- We step in only where an ANRE-certified company is genuinely needed: DIU, reconnection, ATR, power increase
- We save you time, a single phone call tells you whether your situation is a supplier matter or an electrician matter
- We manage the relationship with Retele Electrice Romania for the entire technical side, from the file to energisation
- Coverage across Bucharest, Ilfov and Giurgiu, plus DIU files handled nationwide
- A single point of contact for the technical side, so that activating the contract with the supplier faces no obstacles
How long it takes
If the connection is functioning and only the contract activation with the supplier is needed, the procedure usually takes a few days to two weeks and is free of charge. If activation also requires technical work (DIU, reconnection, ATR), the timeline approaches that of a new connection, approximately 4-12 weeks, depending on the works required. We give you a clear estimate after a free assessment of your situation.
