Electrical Reconnection After Disconnection

A connection can be disconnected for several reasons: unpaid bills, suspension on request (an unoccupied property), works, or because the old connection was removed. Restoring supply — reconnection — depends on how deep the disconnection was. If it was just a temporary suspension and the connection and meter physically exist, reconnection is resolved by settling the debt and a request to the supplier and operator. If the connection was removed (cabinet dismantled, riser taken out) or the installation is no longer compliant, reconnection effectively becomes a new connection process, with a file, possibly an ATR, and works.

When you need it

You need reconnection when the property was disconnected for non-payment and you want to restore supply after settling the debt, when you reopen a house or space suspended long ago, when you have bought a property with the connection disconnected, or when the old connection was removed and must be rebuilt. This also applies when, at reconnection, the operator asks for an updated Utilisation Installation Dossier or a check of the interior installation, because no valid documentation exists.

How it works — step by step

1. Assessing the Situation and the Connection. We check why the property was disconnected and the state of the connection, the cabinet and the utilisation installation. We determine whether reconnection requires only formalities with the supplier and operator, or works too (cabinet, riser, DIU).
2. Settlement and Reconnection Request. We guide you on settling with the supplier (where the disconnection was for non-payment) and prepare the reconnection / re-energisation request to Retele Electrice Romania, with the necessary documents.
3. Works and Documentation (if needed). If the connection was removed or the installation is no longer compliant, we carry out the necessary works as an ANRE-certified company and prepare the DIU (Utilisation Installation Dossier) required for the meter to be fitted.
4. Re-energisation. Once the formalities and any works are resolved, the operator refits or re-energises the meter and restores supply. You have power again, under legal and safe conditions.

How long it takes

If the connection physically exists and it is only a matter of settlement and re-energisation, reconnection can be resolved in a few days, depending on the supplier's and operator's timelines. If the connection must be rebuilt or a new file is needed, the timeline approaches that of a connection (approximately 4–12 weeks). We give you an estimate after the assessment.
