PRAM measurements confirm that your electrical installation operates safely, that the earthing system will clear faults correctly, and that the insulation of the conductors has no dangerous current leakage. PRAM stands for "earthing and resistance measurement" (Punerea la pamant si masurarea rezistentei), and the result is a test report signed by ANRE-certified personnel. When you need it
You need PRAM measurements when: you are commissioning a new electrical installation and want confirmation that the earth electrode has been correctly installed; you are facing an ISU (emergency inspectorate) inspection, a safety audit or an insurer's requirement; your previous PRAM report has expired (these are carried out periodically, every 1-2 years); you run a workshop, warehouse or commercial space with heavy-duty equipment; you are experiencing problems such as frequent tripping of the residual-current device (RCCB) or mild shocks when touching metal casings; or you have installed a lightning protection system or photovoltaic panels.
How it works — step by step
- Booking and assessment. Get in touch on 0733 097 440. We agree a date and establish which checks are required for your installation.
- Site visit and visual inspection. A certified technician arrives on site, locates the earth electrode and the distribution board, and inspects the condition of the connections, the equipotential bonding bar and the earthing ring.
- Carrying out the PRAM measurements. Using metrologically verified instruments, we measure the dispersion resistance of the earth electrode, the continuity of the protective conductors and the insulation resistance.
- Interpreting the results. The measured values are compared against the permitted limits (below 4 ohms for ordinary installations, below 1 ohm for cases with stricter requirements).
- Issuing the PRAM report. You receive a document setting out all the measured values, the measurement conditions and the conclusion. If any non-conformities are found, we propose the necessary remedial work.

How long it takes
For a home or a small space, the on-site measurements take roughly 1-2 hours, and the PRAM report is normally issued within 1-3 working days. For warehouses and complex installations, the time required increases. The report is typically valid for 1-2 years.
